Metron can be of great benefit in tracking changes in the critical
period following a laminitic episode. This month we show the before
and after pictures of a foundered foot.

This foot had a hole half way down the dorsal hoof
wall, which has vanished after a few months. Despite recommendations
to put the horse down, she is out trotting around in the pasture
and is comfortable. The horse is missing about 30% of the bone mass
of P3, so its unlikely she will ever return to soundness, but she
is comfortable now.
