Calibration in Metron
What Metron software offers that others do not is a means of easily getting accurately calibrated images so that measurements you make are accurate. We sell some simple hardware to allow you to take calibrated photographs and radiographs.
Here is an document which covers the use of these calibration tools to achieve accurate measures in Metron. This document also gives pointers on how to take good photographs of the hoof, so please have a look at it.
Independent university researchers have evaluated Metron and found that it produces accurate measurements. Examples of these studies can be found here and here.
We have been developing and perfecting methods of measuring the hoof since 1999. Metron's measurement scheme of the equine hoof is patent protected. There are some other crappy attempts at doing it by people who haven't thought it through, so please think about it and decide for yourself.
