Do you ever worry about your horse's feet?
Do you hear talk about biomechanics but are not sure
how to become involved? Ever notice all the advances in technology
for human athletes and wonder 'what about the horse?'. Did you know
that hoof & leg problems are near the top of the list for cause
of death in mature horses?
Metron-P is the photos-only version of Metron-PX. It is intended
for those users who rarely deal with radiographs. You can also think
of it as an "entry-level" version -- you can upgrade later
to Metron-PX.
Metron-P lets you keep track of the feet of your horse(s) by storing
all photos you take in a database. Metron-P guides you through step-by-step
picking key features in the image of the hoof, and then computes
many parameters of the hoof conformation. It then allows you to
compare your horse's feet to a database of other horses (or to the
same horse), by breed, age, and other factors. Metron-P provides
a scoring system that computes a score (from 0 to 100%) for each
hoof image you provide. You can use the default scoring rule that
we provide, or you can customize your own scoring rule to score
the conformation for factors that you believe are important. There
is also a 'free mark-up' capability so you can add notes and make
other measurements in the image. You can print automatically formatted
multi-page reports. Metron-P comes with an e-mail feature* which
enables you to send images, reports, and various information to
other parties.
Metron-P can be used for a wide range of applications and situations.
Horse owners can create a health record of their horse's hooves for
documentation purposes. With its 'guided mark-up', Metron-P allows,
for instance, the comparison of changes in angles and other parameters
for the same hoof over a period of time. It thus enables the tracking
of potential soundness problems. Farriers can customize the scoring
rule to their liking and professional needs . The e-mail feature*
of Metron-P helps to enhance communication between horse owners, farriers,
veterinarians, and other equine professionals.
Since Metron-P lets you import any kind of image, it can also be used
to keep track of photos of your horse(s) markings, brands, injuries,
or other image types such as x-rays, ultrasounds, infrared thermographs,
etc. Metron-P offers 'free mark-up' and e-mail features for these
kinds of images.
Metron-P has many uses. If you want to see a few "case studies"
take a look here. Some
of these make use of radiographs (available only with Metron-PX) but
you will see the use of photographs in most of these case studies.

Yes. From this website you can either download
Metron now, or, if you have a slow Internet connection, you
can request that we mail you
a CD. In either case, you will get Metron-PX in "Trial
Mode". In Trial Mode, you can use all features of the product,
except that you cannot import your own images. You can only use
a set of sample images (some photos, some X-rays) that we provide.
Then, if you decide you wish to purchase Metron, you can do it right
from inside the product via the Internet. Note that you will really
have all of Metron-PX in trial mode -- you can decide later to purchase
just the Metron-P portion, or all of Metron-PX.
Metron-P is $249. If you already own Metron with a version number
starting in "1." or "2." you can upgrade to
Metron-P version 3.0 for $99. At any time, yo ucan upgrade from
Metron-P to Metron-PX for $150.
