What is it?
Metron-U is PC software for equine veterinarians who perform
ultrasound exams on musculoskeletal structures in the leg.
Metron-U supports over 20 specific tendon and ligament exams.
How is it used?
Ultrasound images from your machine or digital image capture
device are imported and displayed within Metron-U. You then
use the mouse on your PC to circle soft tissue structures
(tendons & ligaments) and lesion perimeters. You input
lesions grades and fiber alignment scores. Metron-U archives
all images and exam information in its database; this includes
information on the horse, owner(s), trainers, dates of exams,
reasons for exams, structures examined, treatments and therapies
prescribed, etc. Metron-U automatically formats reports that
can be printed or faxed to the owner, trainer, or other parties.
Why use Metron-U?
Spend less time at the horse eliminate
time spent measuring tendons and ligaments while at the
horse. These activities are better done later at your
PC
Take advantage of todays PCs by moving
the job of dealing with ultrasound images to the PC, you
have simple advantages such as color displays of the marked
structures in the image, ability to add other annotations
to images, use of standard printers and faxing software,
etc. The user interfaces and built in software in Ultrasound
machines will never keep up with the greater PC world.
All previous exams archived an automatic
benefit of using Metron-U is that all previous exams are
stored on your PC. Metron-U takes advantage of this when
generating reports to automatically provide computations
showing percentage improvement in structures over multiple
exams. No way to do this with software built into todays
ultrasound machines.
Generate professional reports in a fraction of the time
above all, Metron-U is a report generation tool.
With Metron-U, you simply select treatment, procedure, bandaging,
and other options from pull-down menus and the bulk of the
report is written for you. Metron-U also maintains a database
of names, addresses, phone numbers, etc for owners, trainers,
consulting veterinarians, etc. Reports can be printed or
output as PDF files.
How Much is it?
Metron-U is $599. Use our secure Order
Form to order it.
Customers with Metron-U version 1.X may upgrade to version
2 for $99.
Is it Easy to Use?
Yes. For example, the "Database
Panel" allows you to archive all exams, plus all
the information related to the horse (owners, trainers, location,
etc). Working with the ultrasound images is easy - you
use your mouse to circle all tendons and lesions, you grade
lesions, and specify fiber alignment scores. Tendons
are shown in yellow, lesions in red -- here's
an example. Finally, you use the "Main
Report panel" to specify recommended exercise levels,
treatments, procedures, bandaging, and other items.
Much of the main report is written for you just by making
selections from the pull-down lists in this panel. The
result is a professional report ready to be given to your
clients.
Can I Look at the User Manual?
Yes. You can download the User Manual for Metron-U
here.
This is the same manual that comes on the CD if you order
Metron-U.
How about an On-Line Slide Show Tutorial?
OK. Here is a Slide
Show Tutorial on Metron-U. Among other things, it
covers how you capture images from your ultrasound machine
and get them into Metron-U.
Can I try it first?
Sure. Go to the download page
and download the software in "Trial-Mode".
In trial mode you can do everything except importing
your own images, rather, you just use some sample images provided.

What if I need a Device to Capture Images
from my Ultrasound Machine?
If you don't currently have a means of capturing images from
your ultrasound machine, there are several solutions we suggest,
depending on your preference. We have assembled some
information on three different options:
The Sony GVD-1000
Digital VCR
The Sony "MaviCap"
DPP-SV88 unit
The Imperx PCMCIA card
for a laptop.
Please call us with questions you have on these various solutions.
You can buy any of these units from various distributors directly.
If you'd like EponaTech to obtain one for you and re-sell
to you, just call us, and we can do that.
What kind of Customer support do you offer?
We support our customers by e-mail, phone, and by maintaining
an informative web-site. Also, we have a new ability to "log
on" to your computer accross the internet and show you
(on your computer!) how to do something, or to allow you to
