Installing Metron-PX

Installing Metron from a CD or an Internet Download

If you have a CD, the installer program should automatically start several seconds after placing the CD in your CD drive.  Some computers have this “auto-start” facility turned off, so, if it doesn’t start up, go to “My Computer” and find your CD drive.  Double clicking the CD Drive will usually start the installer program.  If it still doesn’t start, look on the CD drive and find a file on it called “Metron.exe”.  Double-clicking on Metron.exe will start the Installer Program.  You will see the following panel:

Click on the button corresponding to the product yo uhave purchased or that you would like to try..

You will also be offered a “Slide Show” which you can view from the CD.  You can view it before installing Metron, or later.  Anytime you wish to view the Slide Show, insert the CD into your computer’s drive – the slide show is never installed onto your hard disk.  On the other hand, the Metron software, once installed, does not require the CD again.

If you downloaded from the Internet, then you will have a file called “Epona3PX.exe”.  You may have placed it on your desktop when you downloaded it, or elsewhere.  It doesn’t matter where you placed it, as long as you can find it and double-click it to start the Installer Program.

The Installer Program will greet you with this panel:

After clicking the “Yes” button on the above panel, you will see the License Agreement.  Please read it carefully, and if you agree with it, click the “Yes” button at the bottom of the panel:

You are then asked where Metron should be installed on your disk(s).  It if you simply click ‘OK’ to place it in the default location.  By default, Metron would like to install itself in a new folder called ‘Epona’ which will sit at the top-level on your main disk (usually C:).  Generally,  the only  reason to choose another location is if the default disk is too full to fit Metron on it.  It’s a good idea to have at least 35 MB free in order to install Metron, so you might want to check that before deciding.  In most cases, just clicking ‘OK’ to accept the default location is the best thing:

Next, you will be shown the “Install Notes”, which you should quickly read.  The top of that file looks like:

Installation will be complete when you click the "finish" button on the last panel that the installer displays.

What if Installation Failed?

Usually, the only reason it would fail to install would be due to a lack of disk space.  So, if there is any problem, please check to see if you have enough space (about 35 MB) first.

If you have enough disk space, but installation still fails, perhaps you have a damaged CD, or a corrupt “Epona3PX.exe” file from an Internet download.  This is rare, but can happen.

Starting Metron

The installation program attempts to place an icon on your desktop that looks like this:

Double clicking the icon will start-up Metron.  If the icon does not appear on your desktop, you can start Metron by going to the “Start” button (extreme lower left on your computer screen), then choosing “Programs”, and then choosing “EponaTech” and then “Metron-PX”.

The installation program also attempts to place an icon on your desktop called “Metron-PX Doc” which is a shortcut to the User Manual.

When Metron Starts Up

The first time you start Metron, you are asked to give the “CD Code” which is a code that you can find on the CD, or perhaps on the packaging for the CD.  If you downloaded Metron from the Internet, then you won’t have a CD Code, which is fine – just click the “no CD Code Available” box.

All valid CD-codes start with a Letter, then have four numerical digits, then a hyphen, and then five numerical digits.  It is important to enter the code accurately.  On the other hand, if for some reason you’ve lost your code, or can’t find it, you may click the box labeled “No CD Code Available” and continue on.  You will only see this panel the first time you start Metron.

After you have entered the CD Code, or on subsequent start-ups of Metron, you will see a panel informing you that you are in “Trial Mode”, and indicating how many days remain in the trial period.  In Trial Mode you can do almost everything with Metron, with the exception that you cannot import your own images into Metron.  Rather, you can use a set of sample images that we have provided.  For each of the five types of images that Metron supports, we have supplied a sample.  Trial Mode allows users to try Metron before deciding if they wish to purchase it.

If you later decide to purchase Metron, you’ll see that its particularly easy to purchase using a credit card and an Internet connection (or if you don’t have an internet connection, you can call EponaTech at (805) 239-3505).  If you have already pre-paid for Metron, there is also an easy way to automatically send us an e-mail requesting an “unlock code”.
